Non-Tapered Octagon Poly-Craftsman Column - Installation Instructions

Warning: precision machined edges of Poly-Classic Craftsman Column components can be extremely sharp. Use of
appropriate personal protection equipment is required. *** Turncraft recommends POLYURETHANE glue for assembly.
1) Measure overall opening from floor to beam or soffit (must have structural pressure-treated post or lally column for load support). 2) If needed, install blocking around load bearing post, top, bottom and center (use pressure treated lumber). Thickness of blocking plus post must be the same width as the inside of the column. 3) Blocking must not be so wide that it  contacts the angled sides of the column. 2½" wide should suffice for 8" columns, and 3¼" for the 10" size.
4) Trim shaft pieces at least ¼" shorter than opening height (from step 1). 5) Apply adhesive to inside joints, and one outside edge.  6) Stand up column and wrap around load support. Nail (or tape) open edge to finish seam. (Tape can be removed after glue cures.)
7) Apply adhesive to inside joints and one outside edge of base. 8) Wrap base around column and nail (or tape) edge. Pin nail base to column shaft as well.  9) Apply adhesive to inside joints and one outside edge of cap.
10) Wrap cap around column and nail (or tape) edge. Pin-nail cap to column shaft as well.  11) Caulk nail holes and edges of cap and base where they meet the shaft. 12) Clean surface of column with cleaner recommeded by the paint manufacturer. Paint with two coats of acrylic latex paint.
